FAQ
When should I attend the classes?
You can attend the classes at any time during your pregnancy, but we recommend between 25 - 35 weeks gestation. This will give you plenty of time to practice the skills learnt in the course and ensure you’re comfortable for the 6 hour classes.
What will I learn?
First and Foremost, Hypnobirthing Australia™ Positive Birth Program is good quality child-birth education. You will learn the fundamentals of labour and birth, as well as relaxation techniques to eliminate fear during childbirth. This knowledge and associated skills will allow you to tap into your natural birthing instincts so your labour can be a calm, positive experience. The Hypnobirthing Australia™ Positive Birth Program prepares you for all birth types and interventions, and gives you and your birth partner the tools to advocate for yourself in order to achieve a postive and empowered birth.
What if I have pregnancy complications / conditions?
Hypnobirthing is not reserved for one type of birth. Hypnobirthing techniques can be used in any birth scenario and can alleviate stress to create a calm experience, regardless of the setting. In the event of medical intervention of any kind, you’ll find yourself better equiped to remain calm and in control and make informed decisions for you and your baby.
Where are the classes held?
The Hypnobirthing group classes are conducted at Mordialloc Neighbourhood House - 457 Main Street, Mordialloc, Victoria, 3195. Parking is available to the front and the rear of the building. Please enter via the front door on Main Street.
What should I bring?
Wear comfy clothing and shoes
A cushion or pillow
A yoga mat - one can be provided on request
Your comfort is our top priority so if you have any other items that you feel will make you more comfortable throughout the day, please feel free to bring it along (exercise ball, stress ball etc)
Is food provided?
Morning and afternoon tea is provided along with tea and coffee. Please BYO lunch, or treat yourself to a bought lunch at one of the cafes a short talk from the venue.
Who should attend?
The Hypnobirthing Australia Program™ is just as important for the support person, as it is for the birthing mother. Your birth partner is included in every step of the course and will learn and understand the skills and tools to support you in labour.
The group class is designed for both the birthing mother and one support person. However we understand you may have multiple support persons for labour, so an additional person may be able to attend subject to availability and for an additional fee. Please contact Amy to discuss further.

Hypnobirthing is outside my budget, what can I do?
Submit an enquiry to Amy and she’ll be in contact to discuss all of the available options based on your circumstances.
CAN I CLAIM THE COURSE WITH MY PRIVATE HEALTH FUND?
Depending on your health fund and level of cover you may be eligible for a rebate for the Hypnobirthing Classes. Please contact your health fund to enquire about your coverage or email Amy if you have any other questions.
I can only attend one day, what do I do?
Please include your concern and availability on your class booking form and Amy will be in touch to arrange full course attendance with extra flexibility.
I’m a second time mother, should I still attend?
Hypnobirthing is relevant to all birth experiences, whether first, second or more! The skills learned will help the mother and support person/s to rewire their mind so a stressful situation can become a calm, positive scenario.
I’ve already taken childbirth classes, how are these different?
All childbirth education is valuable, but unlike other classes, Hypnobirthing teaches a woman to shift her mind from the conscious to the subconscious, which allows her to naturally switch off pain receptors. When pain is reframed as pressure, a positive birth can be achieved.
Is Hypnobirthing like being unconscious?
Despite misconceptions, Hypnobirthing doesn’t work like the hypnosis you see in the media. A woman achieves a sense of deep relaxation but is fully conscious, and able to make decisions for herself and her baby.
Still not sure?
